Discovering Tinnitus

Allergic Reactions:

Food:

Some type of food cause the tinnitus. Problem foods contain grain based sprits, red wine, chocolate and cheese. After consuming honey, one supplier reports the hearing tones. The same food is also responsible for causing migraine headaches; extra migraine foods contain soy and everything containing MSG, soy, very ripe bananas, citrus fruits and avocados.

Foods Rich in Salicylates:

Numbers of foods are responsible to rich to salicylates.

Aspartame:

Some of the people claim that the sugar substitute aspartame which is artificial is connected to tinnitus, vertigo, and some other harmful problems.

Marijuana:

Pre-existing cases of tinnitus gets worsen because of usage of marijuana.

Diseases:

Lyme disease:

Lyme is tick borne, parasitic disease which is mostly found in eastern states of United States. In many cases, tinnitus is side effect of the Lyme.

Growths or Tumors:

Acoustic Neuromas:

Acoustic neuromas are slow growing, small that invade or press against the auditory nerves. If tinnitus is in one year then immediately see to doctor to rule out this. For definitive diagnosis, MRI is helpful but ENT felt that MRI was not necessary unless common dizziness was present. Surgery is useful for removing the acoustic neuromas but because of this risk of hearing loss are increases.

Glomous Tumors:

These tumors of the glomus body can responsible causing the pulsatile tinnitus. They are diagnosed using imaging or the CAT scan and can remove surgically by using delicate procedure.

Otosclerosis:

Otosclerosis is a condition in which growth of bones increases around the footplate. Seal is formed by this footplate and therefore middle ear space gets separated from the inner ear.

When footplate moves normally then vibrations of sound are passed from chain of middle ear bones in to fluid of inner ear but if footplate is fixated then sound vibrations can not pass in to the inner ear and result the hearing loss.
